Finally, a 2nd Generation Raptor solution for those who demand a V8 powerplant!
Houston, Texas— August 20, 2018 — As the saying goes, “Give the people what they want!” Since Ford announced that the engine for the 2nd generation Ford Raptor would be a the 3.5L Ecoboost six-cylinder, there have been those dreaming of a V8 option. After months of research and development, PaxPower is proud to announce the V8Raptor, a Raptor-spec chassis, suspension, and body conversion for the 2018-2019 and 2015-2017 Ford F150s.
This dream-come-true has a 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing 758-horsepower from the addition of a 2.9L Whipple supercharger and a dual-exhaust system. Incredible performance and sound, paired with the aggressive body and capable suspension of the Raptor, gives new meaning to the term “muscle truck!”
The conversion is done using all new Ford OEM parts, from fenders to fasteners. The suspension is changed out to Raptor-spec upper and lower control arms, front axle shafts, steering links, brake lines, sway bar setup, leaf springs, hardware, and, of course, the Fox internal-bypass shocks. The body conversion includes the entire 2017+ Raptor front clip: fenders, hood, grilles, trim, flares and accent lighting. The bed is rebuilt with Raptor aluminum inner and outer bed sides, fender flares, and accent lighting. The chassis is finished off with OEM Raptor skid plates and the customers’ choice of bumpers, wheels, tires, or other upgrades. The truck pictured has been fitted with FabFours Aero bumpers, Method Con 6 18” wheels, Toyo Open Country R/T 35×12.5” tires, and Rigid Midnight Edition 20” light bar.
The resulting truck has an unrivaled combination of supercar level power and superb suspension to soak up the worst on- and off-road conditions! Anyone who has experienced the ride quality and abilities of the Raptor suspension can attest that most aftermarket lift kits do not compare to this factory mid-travel system. The OEM Raptor-spec parts work exceptionally well together, providing an incredible amount of comfort and performance. The installation of the V8Raptor suspension upgrade widens the track 4 inches for stability and lifts the truck 5 inches for maximum ground clearance.
The PaxPower prototype truck started life as a 2018 F150 Platinum FX4, with the new-for-2018 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine, 10-speed transmission, and a 3.55 ratio electronic-locking rear differential. Starting with a Platinum F150 meant that the truck had similar tech to a fully-loaded Raptor, but with the addition of Platinum-trim massaging seats and power-folding steps. One factor that makes a conversion like this feasible is that trucks like this go for $5,000-$10,000 under MSRP, as opposed to Raptors, which are often sold by dealers for over MSRP. If a prospective buyer is willing to give up some creature comforts in their V8Raptor, suitable new 2018 F150s are on dealer lots for as low as $35,000!
With respect to pricing for the V8Raptor conversion, packages start at $7,500 for the complete Raptor-spec suspension upgrade. Full chassis, suspension, and body conversions start at $25,000. Conversions are done in about 3-4 weeks at PaxPower’s Houston, Texas facility. Because the parts are OEM Ford, they carry Ford/Motorcraft’s 2-year unlimited-mileage warranty, which includes labor to replace defective parts at your local dealer. Further, those electing to supercharge their V8Raptors can add a 3-year/36,000 mile limited powertrain warranty.
